We are from the Pastoral "Salvaguarda de la Creación" (salvation of the creation), of the valley of the river Huasco.

Because we value God's creation which is necessary for the life of men, we have been examining the efforts of Barrick Mining and others who want to extract gold from our Chilean mountains. We know not only from examples here in Chile that such enterprises have many environmental and social impacts. We are therefore worried about our children's future, and we hope that we can save our valley from the big transnational companies.

On this website we want to inform you about these mining companies and how they work as well as about our fight to defend the valley. We hope that the provided information is an enrichment for you, and that you can help and support us in some way. We want to make you participant in what occurs in our valley, in the cordillera and in the world, to create "a society more humanized and less metallized"
